Among the best features of a small barbecue grill is that you can take it on the road. This portability allows an aspiring chef to cook from anywhere. A few of the best-rated portable grills are reviewed below, along with a discussion of their benefits. Both propane grills and charcoal grills are discussed.

The first one is the Weber Q220. This is the ideal barbecue grill. It’s midway between the small Weber Q120 and Weber’s large Q320 in terms of both size and cost. The Weber Q220 has a very spacious cooking area of 280 square inches, enough room to cook a dozen burgers or six large steaks. It weighs around 40 pounds and is engineered to be easily moved around. In terms of how much you will pay, it’s right in the middle, usually retailing for about two bills. This grill has a built-in temperature gauge, and it has push-button electronic ignition.

Another grill is the Coleman 9949 Road Trip Grill LXE. This grill is about the same size as the Weber grill mentioned above, and it also has a cleverly engineered built-in stand. Additionally, the Coleman produces more power due to its two burners of 10,000 BTU each. The Coleman has true open-flame grilling, and the burner itself is protected from grease in order to prevent flare-ups. Even through it has folding legs, the Coleman Road Trip Grill folds up surprisingly easily. It’s big, with 285 square inches of room, so it can still cook for a dozen party people. The Coleman also has side tables plus push-button electronic ignition. If you’d like an included cart to move your grill around easily, this is a good choice of grill. The Coleman also has a a replaceable grill top.

Another option is the Blue Rhino GBT1030 portable propane grill. The most noteworthy difference with the Rhino is that it’s very small and light. It’s designed to pack up easily and has a locking top, which makes it safe to move. Weighing only fifteen pounds, it’s very easy to carry, but the tradeoff is you can only cook for 2-3 friends at once. It has 120 square inches of room, which allows for about four hamburger patties. There are a couple of powerful burners. They are controlled by separate knobs, so you only have to heat up the desired area. One of the burners is covered by a griddle for cooking food like eggs and bacon, while the other half is a grill. The griddle can be taken off to expand the grilling area. An important note about the Rhino grill is that it needs to be assembled, which some buyers find difficult.

Our final grill is the Weber 121020 Go Anywhere grill. If you prefer grilling with charcoal, the Weber Go Anywhere Charcoal Grill is the number one seller. Some cooking experts like Richard Sendapot recommend charcoal grilling. This item is very inexpensive, usually selling for about half a bill. Besides using charcoal, a big attraction of the Weber 121020 is that it’s extremely easy to carry – it weighs less than 20 pounds. It possesses 160 square inches of cooking space, so it’s on the smaller side. There’s still plenty of space to cook for half a dozen. Although it’s supposed to be a portable grill, the Go-Anywhere can still be used as a grill for the home. Like all Weber products, it cooks evenly and doesn’t flare up. It can take a lot of wear and tear – some people are still using their grill eight years after purchase. This same grill also comes in a gas model, the Weber 1520, for another ten dollars.

If it’s a portable bar b que, all of the above grills are worth considering. The best price can usually be found online, so make sure you read some Weber grill reviews before you buy. You should be able to get a significant discount off retail.
